Marti Smida (Moderator and Advisor) – South Africa

My loopbaan het baie draaie geloop deur my lewe.

In my lewe is daar n paar dinge wat baie saak maak vir my, my Liefde vir God, sy Engele, my mede mens, musiek en dan perde.

Cristina Taniguchi – Moderator from Dumaguete City – Philippines

Greetings! My name is Cristina S. Taniguchi also known as Kitty Taniguchi.

I am from the Philippines and I’m a visual artist. I do both paintings and sculptures. Occasionally though, I write poems. I’ve been in the art circle for more than four decades.

As a sculptor, I mostly used terracotta or red clay. I also do mud skeletal as one of the process in doing a bronze sculpture.

Here is a little idea as to what my art is all about in general.

My work springs from an effort to juxtapose the reality and imagination to create a story and to touch base on the level of human emotion, psyche and intellectuality.

The things and objects that I show or use in my paintings may be symbolic but these are not necessarily to be seen that way. My aim is to bring up a condition that dramatizes life and is not predisposed to specific human experience and knowledge of the things or objects in the paintings.

I would like to think that the human narratives in my work encompass not only a personal mythology but a universality of the things and objects that are actually part of everyone’s life.

These are ordinary things and objects like chair, crow and moon that are to be seen on face value but at the same time can make one transcend to spirituality in looking at the essence of life, whether in the state of reality or the imagined.

I’m a lover of music and great admirer of musicians, singers, and performers. “When I listen to music I know that I’m alive”.
